Watch Out for the Doubt

You may be saying to yourself…”It’s taking too long for my blessings to come.  I’m a good person.   I tithe.   I serve.   I help others.  I do the right thing.  I’ve turned my life around.   I don’t cheat or steal.   I offer up my prayers.   I’m a loving person.  Where is my mate, home, happiness, job or health?”

Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life. (Proverb 4:23)

Guard your heart and emotions.   When you experience struggle, lack, shame, rejection and setbacks, these life experiences can shatter your sense of worth and hope.   When things don’t work out or you feel your blessings of success are being blocked…be careful of those self-diminishing thoughts i.e. “I’m a loser, I can’t win, Why am I doing this, It won’t work, I can’t do this. What’s the use?”The enemy of doubt and defeat can take over if you don’t guard your heart and thoughts.   You start to question your ability and opportunities.  A season of drought can cause self-doubt and drain you of your strength.

You can’t hurry God or take short cuts.   You don’t want to compromise your character or lose your faith, lose your way, lose your mind or lose your patience.   When things go wrong, you don’t have to go wrong with them.  Looking for love, comfort or a hiding place in someone’s bed, a bottle, food, drugs, excessive spending, anger or isolation are not the solution.   Learn how to respond to stress and changes in your life with courage, optimism and prayer.  Count your blessings.  Go on a fast.   Get outdoors.  Go for a walk.  Do not isolate yourself and turn your home into your cave. Your home should be your sanctuary. Enjoy some uplifting music.   Don’t call up the “energy vampires” (you know those negative people who drain your faith, peace and strength). Make positive connections and be accountable to someone you trust to help you grow. Listen to my CD message about the toxic “straw” people who are unhealthy and detrimental for your mental, emotional and spiritual well-being.  Take your attention off yourself and encourage someone else today. Place your attention on solutions, faith and action.  Alter your thinking by laying your problems on the altar.   Be encouraged and resilient.   Some situations are beyond your control.      The situations in your life that you can’t control or change … will change you.  The question is, “How will you be changed?  Will you be bitter or better?  Will you get stuck in your pain or will you be self-motivated to press and persevere?  Will you live with shame, anger or blame or will you become super intentional to learn the lessons so you won’t have to repeat them?  Will you become more compassionate, discerning, and proactive or will you start acting like a powerless victim?  Will you find your voice or will you become helpless and passive?  Will you have more faith or have more fear and anxiety?  Will you be crushed by the weight of life’s demands, trials and tribulations or rise and be resilient?

“Be of good courage and He shall strengthen your heart” (Psalm 31:24).

Surrendering and being still until your storm passes is not a sign of weakness.   Sometimes it’s the best and only thing to do.

No matter how good a person you are or how much preparation you make, stuff happens.

No matter how strong the attack, be still and Trust God.

You may be experiencing envy, threats from bill collectors, loneliness, heartache or wondering how you will get through your season of drought.   Read more in my book “Shift Happens.” ~ Jewel Diamond Taylor

WAITING IS A DIFFICULT DIVINE DELAY

(prayer for you to read for yourself – suggestion – read it out loud to yourself)

Lord I thank you for new mercies, new strength and a new day.

As I experience the trials, tests and tribulations of life, help me to stay in peace rather than fall to pieces.

Help me not to throw away my confidence in Your love, mercy, grace, peace, and deliverance.  There a days when I feel strong, resilient and focused.  I see at times a window of progress and peace opening.   And yet there are times I feel impatient waiting for a breakthrough. I wait.  I watch.  I wonder when, why, who and how?

I feel like I am on a spiritual wait watcher’s program.  I need strength to persevere and have patience to wait for your divine timing in my life.

There are voices without and within causing me to think that I am defeated, unworthy and forgotten.  Lord I want to grow in my patience, faith, inner peace and wisdom.

I press each day to see results in my finances, family, health, daily demands, career and my purpose.   I give you thanks in advance as I renew my faith and resolve to wait and win.  I believe in your Word that You, Holy Spirit, are a rewarder of our faith.  Today I take back my power to speak, think and act with authority, clarity and joy.  I know my words have power, so I remember today that I possess what I confess.

I confess that I am a child of God empowered by His grace and love to be an overcomer.  I confess with my lips that I am healthy, wealthy, divine, blessed, guided and provided for each day.  I confess that I can walk by faith and not by sight.  I may not see or understand your mysterious ways or divine delays.  Yet I wait and depend on you Lord for your strength and guidance.  The past has passed.  Every day I am learning to trust and wait for the divine unfolding of my life and destiny.  Right now I am still and stand on your word and not my worries. AMEN, ASHE and SO IT IS

Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. – Isaiah 40:31

The Lord is good to those who wait for Him – Jeremiah 3:25

Wait on the Lord; be of good courage and He shall strengthen your heart – Psalm 27:14

Trust in the LORD and do good.  Then you will live safely in the land and prosper. Psalm 37:3

Peace and Faith During Difficult Times

I pray you find the peace that surpasses all understanding.  It’s the calm that comes when everyone around would expect you to fall apart because of your circumstances.  It’s the kind of peace that comes when you realize you cannot control others.   It’s the kind of peace in the midst of turmoil that allows you to surrender all to God because you realize you cannot do it all.

May you have sweet rest.   May you trust God enough to remember that… “this, too, shall pass.”

May you feel the presence of heavenly hosts around you lifting the weight of stress, grief, darkness, guilt, shame and fear.

May you recall all the times the Lord has brought you “through” and not focus on the things He didn’t do.

May you call on the strength and faith of your ancestors to help you hold your head up so you can press, persevere and have hope.

Remember that prayer changes things.   There is power in your words.   Speak up and speak over your situation.

Life is magic, tragic, wonderful and scary.  Life is in constant change.  May you grow wings of faith to rise above the pain and drama.  There is a place within your soul that no thing and no one can disturb.  Go there!  Go within.

May God’s tenderness, love and mercy cover you like a blanket.

May you begin to trust God and trust yourself enough to know that you will be guided and provided for always.

Your past defeats, disappointments, falls from grace or even the Trickster can make you think you are alone.   Lies!  The truth is God loves you.   Your Father God loves you so much and knew you would have crosses to bear.   Maybe that is why His word says, “Be not afraid” nearly 100 times in the Bible.   One reminder can be found in John 14:1 “Let not your heart be troubled, trust in the Lord.”

Your life is not like a television program.  TV and fantasy can trick you into thinking that everything in life can be solved quickly.  During difficult times you may have to live with unanswered questions.   You may not be able to rescue and save your loved ones from pain.  You may not be able to save yourself from problems that have escalated and snowballed because of inaction, denial, ignorance of fear.    Rain falls on everyone’s roof and maybe this is your season for unwanted rain.  You may feel God has forsaken you.  You may feel sick, afraid, angry, confused, overwhelmed and doubtful.   Faith requires patience.  Take a deep breath.  Now take another one.   And yet another deep breath.

Can you take your hands and expectations off the people or circumstances that are causing you anxiety and fear?   I pray you find the courage to let go and let God.

Be still.  Be quiet.  Let your heart heal in the awkward silence.  There you will find the still small voice of God whispering…”Be still and know that I AM God.”

May the voice of the Comforter steady your heart and mind so that you think clearly to know what to do next.

When you are on your own road to Damascus like Saul in the Bible, you may lose your sight to see your way out.  And just like Saul, the temporary loss of sight could be God’s way to humble and show you He is greater.  Faith is trusting what you cannot see.  It’s a journey you take without the comfort of a map.   God’s word will be the lamp for your feet (Psalm 119:105).  You may not see who, what, when or how your difficult situation will turn around.   Your faith allows you to take one step at a time through the fog of fear.    Your fog will soon clear away.  You will soon have a breakthrough.  You will soon have a testimony.  Remember the words of the Jimmy Cliff song….

I can see clearly now the rain is gone
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It’s gonna be a bright, bright sunshinin’ day
It’s gonna be a bright, bright sunshinin’ day

Oh yes, I can make it now the pain is gone
All of the bad feelings have disappeared
Here is the rainbow I’ve been praying for
It’s gonna be a bright, bright sunshinin’ day

Look all around, there’s nothing but blue skies
Look straight ahead, there’s nothing but blue skies

I can see clearly now the rain is gone
I can see all obstacles in my way
Here’s the rainbow I’ve been praying for
It’s gonna be a bright, bright sunshinin’ day
It’s gonna be a bright, bright sunshinin’ day
Real, real, real, real bright, bright sunshinin’ day
Yeah, hey, it’s gonna be a bright, bright sunshinin’ day

No God… no peace.

KNOW God… KNOW peace.

Mind Body Spirit Connection

The mind, body and spirt are one.  What your mind thinks affects your cells.  Your emotions are triggered by what you think and the level of your faith.  Your body is the host vessel for the Holy Spirit.  As you grow in any of your tri-dimensions, it affects your total well-being.  This principle has been the cornerstone of my teaching.  I refer to my speaking style and approach as a wholistic one.  1. Biology (body) helps us to understand our bodies (i.e. nutrition, generational disease like alcoholism, diabetes, exercise, stress, etc.).  2. Psychology (mind), which was my major in college, helps us to understand perception, cognition, attention, emotion, motivation, brain functioning, personality, behavior, and interpersonal relationships, childhood, trauma, shame based issues, addictions, coping skills, attitude, choices, habits, etc.  Spirituality (study of God) helps us to build awareness, connection, gratitude, wonder, curiousity, honor and relationship with our Creator.  3. Spirituality is the revelation of the mystery and miracle of God around, through and in our lives and environment.  Spirituality is studying universal laws and the omnipresence of God who loves us.  Spirituality for me is about developing a relationship with the Divine, not a religion.  Study and practical application of Jesus teaches the way to live with compassion, restoration, forgiveness, mercy, grace, love for one another, serving humanity, to die to our selfish desires/ego/pride, suffering rising above our haters, persecutors and giants and posessing peace in the midst of our storms.

My perspective and style of teaching is what I call “SpiritPsyBio”, an integration of pursuing a better awareness and power by connecting the dots of the Spirit, our mind and our bodies.  I do my clients and audiences a big dis-service if I only address one dimension of their life.  I don’t separate, I integrate all three…mind, body and spirit.  I strive everyday through action, thought, words, gratitude and focus to align my mind with the divine.

I learned that it is difficuilt to motivate someone to change their self-destructive habits of procrastination, addiction, anger, depression or crime if I don’t seek to understand their psyhological damage, mindset or maladaptive coping skills to survive because of poverty, lack of education, family dysfunction, racism, addictions, peer pressure or media messages.  As a minister, giving the word of God to someone sick in their body or psychologically wounded will not be enough for their breakthrough.  The whole person must be healed.  I can’t inspire someone to have more faith in God if I don’t address their line of thinking (brain).  Dr. Gershon, coined the term “second brain” in 1996.  He is one of a number of researchers who are studying brain-gut connections.  The brain controls behavior.  Butterflies in your stomach (gut) rise when the brain sends a message of anxiety to the gut, which sends messages back to the brain that it’s unhappy. But the gut has been referred to as your second brain.  Your gut is where you have feelings, nervous, lonely, happy or depressed.  Your stomach (gut) dictates your mood and appetite.  95% of all serotonin in the body is in the gut, where it triggers digestion. Nerve cells in the gut also use serotonin to signal back to the brain. This information can train us not to eat certain foods by communicating pain, gas and other terrible feelings.  Just like the brain in your head, “gut brain” is also able to learn, remember, and produce emotion-based feelings.  We really do have feelings in our gut.  Our two brains communicate back and forth via a major nerve trunk extending down from the base of your brain all the way down into your abdomen. Because of this, your two brains directly influence each other.  When one brain becomes upset, the other joins right in.

If someone has body image issues or poor eating habits, I must start there before challenging them to build up their self-esteem.   I can’t motivate someone to write a book or start their business if they lack faith and don’t believe they were born on purpose with a purpose.  If someone lacks faith, it can affect the outcome of their surgery, marriage, business venture or ability to speak up in an abusive relationship, or buy their dream car or home.  Anything is possible with faith in God and action.

The achievement of success and progress in your life will be determined by the level of your faith, the health of your body and the thoughts you think.  Who you love, what you think, feel, eat, believe and do creates the life you live negatively or positively.  Your stress, relationships, emotions, lack of sleep, poor diet and lack faith can be the root for your illnesses, procrastination, depression, or drama. It is a fact that nearly 90% of diseases that afflict humans are self-induced.  You are a whole being.  So I teach and motivate the whole person.  As a personal success life coach offering one-on-one phone counseling, my approach is SpiritPsyBio.  I’m interested in your wellness by integrating what I have experienced and studied about Spirituality, Psychology and Biology.
